Hotel Sole Relax & Panorama

We booked a lake view room with breakfast, balcony and parking. The information sent by email and received on site was clear and detailed, including everything we needed to get in and out of the hotel and the garage. The staff was nice but a bit distant. They did not help with our luggage upon arrival, but upon request we were able to use the luggage cart upon departure. As with the entire city, including the streets, parks and beach, the hotel was always clean everywhere. Our room was spacious with enough space for our luggage. The safe was also spacious. They provided a shoehorn, but no shoe shine equipment. The bathroom was also clean, spacious and well stocked with towels. Apart from toilet paper, there were no other amenities other than two wall-mounted soap dispensers full of strong-drying soap, a wall-mounted tissue dispenser and a hygiene bag dispenser!!! I think on request we could have had everything else but… The hairdryer struggles to cope with the large amount of hair. The breakfast menu is standard, suitable for all dietary needs, but nothing has changed in 6 days. There were 2 plastic chairs and a coffee table, but there is no roof over the balcony on the 3rd floor. It was ideal for sunbathing but the weather was a bit rainy and we could only enjoy the ever-changing view in good weather. In the evenings, street musicians entertained us in the surrounding squares, with varying levels of volume. This lakeside room is quite quiet compared to others overlooking the squares. The sound of the first boat leaving in the morning at 8 am could only be heard in this room when the balcony door was open. The bookable garage (Monte Oro Gate B) is very close. It is easily accessible on foot via an underpass. There is no license plate recognition upon entry. The intercom calls the hotel by phone. The exit is automatic. Overall, the environment was as expected, the services fell short of expectations.

This is supposed to be a 4 star hotel but the rooms at the back of the hotel are not even 1 star. The area approaching the lift is not a reception area but more a utility area. The lift at to the rooms at the back and around the entrance to it is dirty. The corridor from the lift to the room is hostel standard. The room is basic, no robe, no tea or coffee facility, no toiletries only soap dispenser. Nowhere to put toilet bag except on the floor.

We were on a Coach Holiday to the Hotel Sole for Our Honeymoon. Fortunately, I had read some of the Reports on Tripadvisor. The Difference in the way you are Treated is quite Significant. We arrived Late on our 1st night & the Porters for Our Luggage had Gone Home. So it was down to Us, to Wheel / Carry Our Cases from the Bus Stop, around the Top of the Lake, across the Square to the Hotel. If you arrive in a Car or a Mini Bus, that will Drive up to the Door. The Room was Good & Clean. We Paid Extra for Our Room, which had a Lake View & Balcony, as it was Our Honeymoon. Only to find, there were about 4 Rooms on the Top Floor, with a Lake View & Balcony, we were on Floor 1. In other Reports, the Reception Staff will Answer your Questions, but that's it. They Will Not Add On Anymore to Help You. When you get there, Ask for the Garda Pass. It will Save You Euros ! But Don't Expect the Staff to Offer it To You. The Meals are OK, but Don't Expect Water on Your Table at Meal Times, the Hotel Will Sell You Bottled Water. Tell the Waiter or Head Waiter what you want & give him Your Room Number & Pay at the end of Your Stay. Also, Check to See What has been Put on Your Room Bill. For Example, 1 Night, the Waiter came around & i Ordered a Bottle of Wine. A Few minutes later, the Head Waiter came around. We told Him that We had Ordered a Bottle of Wine from the Waiter, He Asked for Our Room Number, we told Him & Off He Went. A few minutes later, the Wine turned up. When we got Our Bill at the End of the the Holiday, 2 Bottles of The Same Wine were Put on Our Bill for the Same Night. Then there was The Gala Dinner. We were So Bored with Their Gala Dinner, that we went out that night, but it Didn't Stop the 2 Women who had Bottled Water Every Night, Putting 2 Bottles of Bottled Water on Our Table / Room Bill, the Night We were Not There. If You are in a Coach Party, it seems You are Not Guests, just Another Coach Party, so Your Meals Must be Eaten in the Restaurant & from the Set Menu, Not Outside Over Looking the Lake. How Does / Who Gave the Hotel 4 Stars & Why ?

1) We were delayed on the day of arrival and notified the hotel. We asked them whether they could still arrange for some evening food for our children as we booked half-pension. They refused. 2) We asked the hotel whether they could do something special for our daughter’s birthday (willing to pay of course). Too much trouble for them. Receptionists ended up being helpful on their own personal account, but were afraid to ask the restaurant staff or their management for help. Poor performance for a 4 star hotel. Money making machine.

Paying between $500 & $600 AUD per night I expect more. No Mini bar , no kettle in room ( you have to go to the restaurant for tea & coffee and pay extra for it) Rooms are old , no central air con . Yes, the view is amazing and the staff are nice , but this place could do with a facelift ! Would not stay here again !

The hotel’s location is perfect. Can’t fault it. But I expect more from a four star hotel. My room var dark and dingy. It only had a tiny window. It is loud. I was woken every morning at six from my neighbour next door (watching German television). The staff at check didn’t seem to care much (did not ask me how my trip had been etc.). Poor service in general. I travel a lot and on the whole, this hotel reminded me more of a three star hotel than a four star.
